The sector skills council for play has been given more than one million pounds by the government to continue its work over the next three years.
SkillsActive was awarded £350,000 a year for the next three years by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
The skills council said the money acts as an endorsement of its role as the sector skills council for play and gives it both security and a boost of confidence.
Paul Bonel, director of the playwork unit at SkillsActive, said: "This recognises our track record as the organisation best placed to progress workforce development in out-of-school play settings."
Stephen Studd, chief executive of SkillsActive, added: "This gives us the opportunity to ensure the unique contribution of play can be at the heart of the implementation of The Children's Plan."
