Think-tank to give cash to charities tackling social issues

Think-tank the Centre for Social Justice has 60,000 to give away to small charities and voluntary groups tackling family breakdown, addiction, educational failure, unemployment and debt.
The think-tank, set up by former Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith, will host an awards ceremony in July for successful organisations.
Charities or supporters must describe in no more than 500 words the work of their organisation and why it makes an exceptional contribution to tackling poverty. The deadline is 22 February 2010.
Duncan Smith said: "Small charities and voluntary groups pioneer excellent ways of addressing society’s toughest issues, from entrenched addiction to intergenerational worklessness. Their efforts, too often, go unrecognised and unrewarded."
