Nine play projects in Wales have received a boost from the Big Lottery Fund.

The distributor has allocated more than £2m to the schemes, from the £13m Child's Play strand of its £20m Healthy Families programme.

The projects are spread across Wales and will use the money to create play initiatives and facilities in their area.

Graham Benfield, chair of the lottery's Healthy Families committee, said: "We must take action to preserve the health of the next generation and encourage children to lead healthier and more active lives."
