The Jon Egging Trust (JET) has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a formal commitment created more than a decade ago for organisations with links to the armed forces.
Through the agreement the Trust pledges to support “the armed forces community and its veterans” and cements existing links between the RAF and the charity’s work supporting young people.

Emma Egging, who set up the charity in 2011 following the death of her husband Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging, said the agreement is “hugely symbolic” due to the charity’s links with the RAF.
This includes working across 25 military bases supporting 35,000 young people through its Blue Skies confidence building programme, that also involves schools and other youth organisations.
“Not only does it celebrate our commitment to service personnel, veterans and the wider military family, but it deepens the commitment of both the Jon Egging Trust and by extension our partners within the RAF family, to the local communities we serve around RAF bases,” she added.

Head of the RAF, air chief marshal Mike Wigston said that the charity supports “some of the most vulnerable people in our society to think differently about their futures”.
He added: “I am delighted to support JET in its signing of the Armed Forces Covenant. As chief of the air staff, I am proud that the RAF continues to support the Jon Egging Trust and the young people that together we serve.”
Last month JET was among three charities to share £300,000 in funding handed out by Impetus, which supports organisations working with disadvantaged young people.
