A year-long pilot project assessing how to change offending behaviour has launched in a young offender institution (YOI) in Wales.

Parc YOI in Bridgend has teamed up with the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, to run the Stop and Think project.

The programme was funded by the YOI and involves psychologists working with young people aged 15 to 17 in the prison's young person's unit, to look at how they solve social problems.

It is believed to be the first time the impact of such a programme has been assessed on this age group.
