The Big Lottery Fund has started discussions over future funding for community play work.
Since 2007, many local authorities have relied on the fund's 123mChildren's Play programme to pay for workers and resources for communityschemes. But concerns have been growing as the money is expected to dryup by 2011.
Adrian Voce, director of Play England, has confirmed that the BigLottery Fund is looking at how it can support play work beyond theprogramme. "I think they recognise the importance of ensuring a goodlegacy for their initiative," he said.
